WHY NEUTER YOUR CAT?
A neuter procedure involves the surgical removal of the testicles and epididimi through a small incision in the scrotum. The skin of the scrotum is left in place and will shrink to a small size.
· Prevent un-wanted kittens Too many unwanted cats and kittens are euthanized every year. Other unwanted cats become feral and continue to reproduce in the wild. Colonies of feral cats fight, kill wildlife, get into garbage and harbor disease which can spread to pet cats. · Prevent roaming and fighting Intact male cats often attempt to escape and roam the neighborhood. If they come into contact with other male cats they usually fight. This puts them at high risk for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus as well as severe infections from bite wounds. Intact male cats can be unpredictable and even aggressive. · Prevent marking behavior “spraying” Hormones that are produced by the testicles cause intact male cats to mark territory with urine. Even if a cat is litter trained they will usually mark with urine in inappropriate locations. The best way to prevent this behavior is to neuter when they are young.
